the calm before the storm.

The weekend was long and drawn out and slow and hot and relaxing and just what I needed.

Not too much in the way of exciting.

Friday I stayed in and watched Buffalo '66. I was supposed to go see Brown Bunny on Saturday, but it got postponed until later this week. Saw the Director's cut of Donnie Darko instead. It was the midnight movie at the tiniest little theatre ever with the worst popcorn on the face of this earth. Dropped off our rent at 3 a.m. which was a feat in itself because to get into the tiny ally that has our landlords office we had to get around 2 people making out in their car. We honked, I flipped them off. I told them to just go home and fuck, it would be a lot more fun and probably more comfortable than leaning over a gear shift or a center console trying to be close to someone. They just wouldn't listen to reason. I told Leslie to ram their vehicle out of the way, but she was hesitant and we lost the furry and decided to drive up and around them. Fuckers. After that it was off to the store. We were looking for dinner, but I guess at 3 am it's no longer dinner time. By the time our food was done cooking I realized I had to be up for work in two hours so I shoved the food in my mouth faster and raced off to bed.

Sunday was even less exciting but fun. My roommate Leslie and I went out for dinner. It wasn't much, but for some reason I had fun. Lately I've been really funny. Witty, cynical, sarcastic but funny none-the-less. So good times were had. It was an extremely hot night though so sleeping was hard to come by.

And last night Leslie, Jessica and I picked up a large case of cheap ass pbr some fire logs and our friend Josh and headed down to the beach. It was littered with debris from all the people who had been out celebrating labor day. Hardly anyone was left at midnight though so we sat there gazing at the stars, which you just can't see in the city. They don't exist. Leslie took pictures. It was just us talking and hanging out and it was nice and unglamorous and good. Plus the beach was cold and a welcome temperature from the hot mission district where I live. Josh wanted to go home though so we dropped his ass off and we went to Sparky's for some late night dinner.

Driving around the city late, late at night when it's warm out is probably one of my favorite things to do... as long as there is a decent soundtrack playing.
