ramblings

Responsibility is going to kill me!

You see, I got paid on the first. I paid my rent, the telephone & DSL, PG&E (gas & electric), one of the two parking tickets I’ve received, my cell phone, my bus pass, and car insurance like a good adult should. I paid my bills all on time or before and it’s killing me! After forking out all that money I then went and bought my roommate her birthday present which wasn’t cheap and some records for me. At first I thought I’d get my roommate a gift certificate for Amoeba while I was there, and then find her something else but that didn’t work out so now I have a gift certificate for me to buy even more records and as much as that makes me smile I didn’t really budget for that. I didn’t really budget for a lot of things! Now I’m left with a whopping $37 in cash. I need to fix my hair. I was just going to dye it back dark brown but I can’t now that I’ve seen the red in the sunlight. So I’m buying some bleach and some new hair dye and am going to make it work tonight or die trying.

I guess I shouldn’t really be complaining. All of my bills are paid. I’m totally caught up with the exception of one parking ticket $35, my State Taxes that I owe $117, and my gym fees of $50. But those I can all pay with my paycheck that I get on the 15th. The only other thing I’ll have to purchase on the 15th is my Coachella ticket and hotel expenses. I’ve been good at keeping my checkbook balanced. I’ve been writing EVERYTHING down in my register and rounding up so I build up a cushion in my checking account which I can then transfer into my savings when it gets over $20. So far I just starting using my checks and keeping the register in order… And I’ve already got a $3.00 cushion and it’s only been 3 days. It’s such a little amount but it’s like the biggest thing to me a girl who’s entire family is bad with money!!!

In addition to the three bills I mentioned above I also need to pay back my grandmother the $40 she gave me on Easter… and Bunny the $20 she let me borrow to go out one night when I seriously needed to party it up but was broke. Which brings my bills to a grand total of $262 for the middle of the month. Of course I still need to buy groceries and have money to go out… but that’s nothing!
